Best food I have had in a VERY long time

Our family had an awesome time discovering this hidden gem! We stumbled upon it during a spontaneous online search for nearby eateries, and boy, are we glad we did. This place is like a culinary adventure with a twist – think endless plates of deliciousness! Here’s how it works: each person in your group selects a meat entree, and collectively, you pick four side dishes. Our 11-year-old, who can be quite picky, initially opted for roast beef, which he found just “okay.” But the fantastic server noticed he wasn’t thrilled and kindly removed it from the bill. He later decided on fried chicken, and he could select any pieces he wanted – he went with the legs. The server was incredibly accommodating and never made us feel like we were being difficult. She even suggested we could wait and grab something else for him from McDonald’s.

This place is a real winner. I’ve dined here twice, and I’m absolutely in love with it! I always go for the Meat Loaf, and it’s the bomb. Their home-cooked food is top-notch, and Fridays are a treat with their Fried Potatoes. I highly recommend this place.
I thought I was eating at my Grandmas House.

I can’t express how thrilled I was when I caught the news on channel 8 that the Belle had finally reopened its doors. The place had a setback after a fire in late 2019 and had been closed ever since. Hats off to Jay for putting the restaurant back together and reopening it! The fried chicken here is an absolute spectacle, and you can’t go wrong with it. To be honest, I haven’t tried much else on the menu, but I’ve savored nearly all of the sides at some point, and they’re all delicious. Plus, they serve fantastic sweet tea. Just remember to bring cash, as that’s the only form of payment they accept (though I do wish they’d at least consider using Square to take cards, but that’s their call). On the bright side, they do have an ATM on-site, so getting cash is easy.

What a delightful discovery this place turned out to be. We ventured here after a fun day at the Indiana fairgrounds for an artisan fair, and boy, were we in for a treat! It’s true, the food here is genuine homemade southern cooking. At lunch, you can score two sides and a hearty meat dish for around $8 – what a steal! The service was not only friendly but super speedy too. I’d venture to say this place is perfect for takeout as well; you can place your order right at the counter.

This place may not be fancy, but it’s the friendliest, family-run gem you’ll ever find in a humble shopping strip. All dinners come with four side dishes and a soft drink. I went for the pan-fried chicken with mac & cheese, collard greens, sweet potatoes, and green beans. Other sides on offer include mashed potatoes with gravy, baked beans, and fried cabbage. You also get a tomato and onion dish and some mouthwatering cornbread. I don’t typically have a huge appetite, but everything was so tasty that I happily cleaned my plates. And of course, I couldn’t resist taking a slice of chess pie for later. It was absolutely amazing. The whole tab, including dinner, pie, and tax, came out to less than $25. This place is now my new favorite restaurant in Indianapolis!

Aside from our picky eater, everything else we ordered was a mouthwatering delight. As a table, we chose meatloaf, smothered fried chicken, chopped steak, and the aforementioned roast beef. The meat came swimming in a sea of savory dressing – either gravy or zesty sauce. For sides, we indulged in mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, green beans, and “fried corn” that I might just dream about tonight. The fried corn was like a symphony of sweet, crisp corn with a hint of creamy goodness. It was simply divine! The rest of the sides were fantastic too. We even got refills on two of the entrees, the corn, and the Mac and cheese.
